Mid-Levels Caregroup

If you are looking for the webpage for the Mid-Levels Caregroup, you have come to the right place!

History
This care group has been going on for a few years, but typical of our church with people constantly in transition, people come and go. But then there're always some who are here to hold down the fort!

Make-Up
As for composition, we are quite international - our backgrounds include Canada, US, UK, Australia, Singapore, HK, Thailand, Philippines (hmm... did I miss any...) As for profession, education is slightly ahead at this point, but the other professions are gaining ground - finance, law, I.T., architecture, etc.

As for hobbies, tennis, music, movies/TV drama, cooking, IT, .... (I know I have left out a bunch.) And many love different board and card games, like Cranium, scrabble, Settlers of Catan, "dirty neighbors" - just to name a few.

Format
As for format, for those who want to and with prior reservation, we meet for dinner at the host's place for dinner at 7-ish. (You can also just bring your take-out.) Then at 8:00, we meet together for worship in songs as a "big" group (about 15 or so at the time of writing). Then we split up into two smaller sub-groups to study.

One of the sub-groups is an indepth study group using the inductive Bible study method (which requires each participant to invest one hour in doing the homework each week).

The other sub-group is a Bible discussion group following some suggested questions.

Current Study
Currently (Summer 2009), both sub-groups are studying the topic of love (since people tend to travel in summer, even though we continue to meet, we will not follow the regular format but have more interactive studies and in a more lively format).

Sundays
On Sundays, many of us usually go out together for lunch after the second service. Join us!

MIsc
We used to meet on Conduit Road but have moved to Bowen Rd.

We had a caregroup retreat last year and hope to have one again this year.
Every Christmas we have a anticipated"White Elephant Gift Exchange with a Twist" party.

Summary

  • Location : Bowen Rd in Mid-Levels
  • Group make-up : mainly career singles plus a few marrieds; from diverse national backgrounds, but the language used is English

  • Misc : we usually go out for lunch as a group after the 11:30 service.

Please contact us for more information (you can find the contact info in the care group pamphlet.)

If you've been a Christian for a few years and would like to visit our group, I would encourage you to join the inductive sub-group to see what it's like. I dare say that few Bible studies have such good discussions. Click here to find out a bit about inductive Bible studies.
